Indeed, she sounded very much like Celia, and she also seemed to be a very funny person from the interview.

I rewatched the whole AFaW series this summer (for the first time since watching on TV in the early 70’s and some of the later reprises), and the “villains” Celia Porter and Sefton Briggs became some sort of favourites. Good to have them in the series. I wish Celia had appeared even more!

PS! It was a pleasure to read the notes and comments by Richard Veit, John Finch and others to each episode while watching.

Thank you for this 2007 interview, Christine. Although Margery Mason was 94 years old at the time, her memory remained quite remarkable. And her voice quality still sounded very much like Celia Porter.

There is scant mention of Ms. Mason's television/film work because this is a recording from the Theatre Archive Project, and interviewer Tom Dymond was careful to stay on topic (i.e., the legitimate stage). Rather interesting, though, because the actress had a long and eventful career.
