I’ve found a reference to Lesley at the Birmingham Rep. (it’s an unusual
person in the profession who hasn’t worked there!) in 1962, when she played
Cassandra in Troilus and Cressida.
Also one or two references in back copies of The Stage, nothing detailed so
far. At a similar time she was in a production of The Bells at the Rep, but
the photo is very dark and hard to see, as it’s been scanned.

Thanks very much for the interesting info Bryan. I wonder if Lesley is aware
of this fan site and how we are still praising her acting performance in
AFAW to the day?
Yes, you're right about BBC programming. Many of their programmes have a
fade to black (one in a 25minute programme) as a break point to guide an
overseas broadcaster when to slot in a commercial break.
Of course many non BBC UK channels transmit BBC material slotting in
advertising breaks, often without warning at odd times. Likewise most
repeats of ITV programmes originally made with two breaks are shown with at
least three with the original bumpers removed, ITV3 and 4 for examples.
I was very surprised for a modern channel that Talking Pictures TV show AFAW
with the original two breaks per episode form, as of course how it was
originally made, even retaining the original break bumpers.
As I only previously saw Series 1 as Channel 4 dropped the repeats after
this series in 1989 I'm getting to see Series 2 and now 3 for the first time
on TPTV.
Cheers
Brian

Lesley Nunnerley
Ten years ago a number of members of our group started to ask about this
actor; history has repeated recently. I did a bit of research.
By then Lesley had stopped acting professionally. She lived in Hampshire
and belonged to an amateur dramatics group called the Hamble Players. The
local newspaper, called Southern Daily Echo, publishes its amateur
theatrical awards each year. In the edition of 21 January 2008 Lesley
received an award for Lady Frederick. Here is a link
http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/1980753.and_the_winners_are/
In 2015 she won a nomination for another award from the same newspaper, but
this time she was with the Lymington Players as Nora in Star Quality. Here

ns_announced_/
Lesley was born in 1935 and so is about 83.
If you find the Lymington Group website you will find a photo of Lesley in
Star Quality. I am not giving a link - have fun finding it!
Thanks to those members supplying fascinating reading concerning recordings
of AFAW. To fit a programme into the time allotted must be tricky. The BBC
has a system with its Wild Life programmes.
I understand that these programmes are usually sold abroad, as one-hour
events, before they are made. However some countries apparently need 10
minutes for commercials. So the actual programmes are 50 minutes long. When
they are shown in the UK a second (10 minutes) programme is shown after the
main one. This programme shows how the one just shown was made.
