Scott Filderman's mention of John Galsworthy gives me the opportunity to sing praises for a 1988 film called A SUMMER STORY, based on a Galsworthy short story ("The Apple Tree"). The brilliant screenplay is by Penelope Mortimer, who for many years was married to the prolific writer John Mortimer. There is a connection between this film and A FAMILY AT WAR, too. A SUMMER STORY features performances by John Savident (solicitor George Askew in four episodes of AFAW) and Kenneth Colley (Sergeant Jago in AFAW's episode "Two Fathers"). Be sure to see A SUMMER STORY, a bittersweet tale that you will not soon forget.

John Galsworthy created Soames Forsyte; John Finch created Sefton Briggs. Two monsters of ego and greed (human, all-too-human); unchecked capitalism.
Anyone paying attention? Probably not.
