‘When The Boat Comes In,’ is great, very involving with a tremendous cast.

I would recommend 'When the Boat Comes In' ; 'Spoils of War' ; 'Flesh & Blood' (the latter two are also by Jon Finch and F&B features Coral Atkins) and 'Fortunes of War (1987) + 'Alone in Berlin (2016) - and also the epic Australian 1970s wartime serial 'The Sullivans' all 1,114 episodes available to UK residents here:

     At the risk of going off-topic, are there other series that AFAW fans recommend? Having gone through dozens of series, and having mentioned Forsyte Saga and Matador (and agreeing to the excellence of Jewel in the Crown, Brideshead, and To Serve Them), I add Wish Me Luck, Yes, [Prime] Minister (pace Monty Python), All Creatures Great and Small, Secret Army (and its brief follow-on), and Colditz. There are several Danish and Swedish series (e.g., Borgen) but let’s avoid the Continent (and such as Bergerac, Midsomer Murders, George Gently, etc.). Thank you all!
