Hi Scott,
Just wanted to mention how much I agree with your sentiments. Indeed what a magnificent series AFAW. Is.
I am currently enjoying the re-run showing on Talking Pictures. (The best TV Channel in my humble opinion)!
And as you say, the magnificent Forsyte Saga, is another series which should go down in the annals of TV History as quality programming.

I suppose the only thing to do, to alleviate withdrawal symptoms, when our favourites come to an end, is to dip back in, rather like a re-reading a well loved novel.

Regards,

Liz De Winter.

I agree! Try “Sam,” Scott.

A few months ago I finished 'Sam', another excellent John Finch authored program which can help with AFAW withdrawl symptoms

My wife and I have just completed our viewing of the entire series, and I want to compliment Mr. Finch for his magnificent achievement. His writing staff, crew, and actors created a true contribution to television history. The quality of writing, production, and acting still resonates powerfully after nearly 50 years. The only other series in my experience to linger have been the original Forsyte Saga (might Soames be the spiritual ancestor of Sefton???) and the Danish Matador, all three being family dramas along broad social and economic lines. AFAW was my introduction to so many fine actors, whose recorded work I have gone on to investigate (e.g., Colin Douglas in Pickwick Papers), even though much of it is lost to the ages. Again, a wonderful achievement, when TV executives were still interested in Art as one path to Commerce.
Now I’m suffering Sefton Withdrawal....Where is my Episode One disc?....
