I probably misread the Internet bit; I had thought there might be a BFI DVD floating around. The play is available in paperback, and there is a bit of a much more recent production on YouTube, but I won’t provide a link as it’s irrelevant in terms of performers and it’s only a few minutes.

"Close The Coalhouse Door" sounds fascinating. I sincerely hope I've got this wrong but only 12 episodes out of 28 survive in the archives from that series of The Wednesday Play. It appears, "Close The Coalhouse Door" might be one of the missing stories sadly as there's no mention of it being one of the surviving ones.
Need to do more research into that.
"The Year Of The Sex Olympics" certainly survives but only as an export black and white telerecording (kinescope), although originally made in colour. That was certainly released on DVD about 15 years ago.
Seen some of these one off dramas in the past. The Wednesday Play became Play For Today in the '70s
Cheers
Brian

I see that the cast also included John Woodvine and James Garbutt (who was in When The Boat Comes In).
That’s quite a list of plays!

Scroll halfway down for a précis of Close the Coalhouse Door, referenced by Tim Douglas.
There’s an indication on the Internet that this production was released on DVD by the BFI some 15 years ago. Anyone have a copy?
