Dudley Sutton was a most versatile actor. He had a leading part in The Beiderbecke series with James Bolam, in which Barbara Flynn (Freda) played his wife, some 6 years after AFAW. Always an engaging personality!

PS Haven’t been able to find a photo, but I looked at the episode on the imdb and found that Dudley Sutton was also in the cast. He played opposite Colin in The Leather Boys (1964).

Woops, the message sent before I finished it!
Colin Campbell appeared in the story, "Golden Boy", sporting a David Essex-like hairstyle! His adaptation of the cockney accent was spot on.
He played a Detective Inspector in the episode.
Cheers

Hi Christine and everyone,
Recently viewed "The Sweeney" episode, "Golden Boy" made in 1974 (originally transmitted Feb 1975), from the Network DVD set.
Now, I don't know if you recall David Essex's hairstyle at the time

A bit more about his stage career:

I saw the production of Nicholas Nickleby, but at the time it didn’t register! I must dig out the programme. Unfortunately that entry doesn’t say who he played.
